Conclusions
Informatics is too important to be left to computer scientists or information scientists: biologists must not only use these tools, but help to develop them.
There is a seamless transition between information retrieval and experimental design: both must take into account the future use of data in new contexts.
Informatics tools can actually accelerate progress in scientific discovery, no less than advances made in new methods and lab findings.
